Coronavirus (updated 13th December 2021)

In line with the latest government guidance, restrictions at Mass are being lifted but we are moving forward cautiously so that everyone will feel safe in attending Mass in our churches.

In line with current legislation, all those attending Masses and other liturgies must wear a face mask which covers both your nose and mouth.

It is no longer necessary to sign in when arriving at church.

We are still advised not to use hymn books so the words of hymns will be displayed on our screens. The sign of peace continues to be offered by greeting from a ‘safe’ distance. Holy Communion is distributed in the hand only and at the moment the chalice is not offered.

We would ask you in both churches to continue sanitising your hands on entering and leaving church and to respect other people’s space.

A message from our Parish Priest

Father Peter Sharrocks
Welcome to our website which I hope you will find helpful and informative. As we continue our return to ‘normality’ you will see that lots of parish groups are restarting their activites. At the same time we continue to be vigilant in the fight against the coronavirus. I hope that you have all taken advantage of the vaccinations on offer.  I hope you like this picture of Christ the Healer and the accompanying prayer which I received some time ago at the beginning of ‘lockdown.

A major initiative throughout the Church is getting under way as we prepare for Synod 2023 - Communion - Participation - Mission. Please take part in whatever way you can.

Please take a regular look at our weekly newsletter which gives up to date information on parish activities and how to support the parish in different ways.

May God bless you and yours

Fr Peter

Christ the Healer
A prayer from the Presidents of the Bishop's Conference of Europe

God our Father, Creator of the world, almighty and merciful, out of love for us You sent your Son into the world as the doctor of our souls and our bodies, look upon your children who, in this difficult time of confusion and dismay in many regions of Europe and the world, turn to you seeking strength, salvation and relief, deliver us from illness and fear, heal our sick, comfort their families, give wisdom to our rulers, energy and reward to our doctors, nurses and volunteers, and eternal life to the dead. Do not abandon us in the moment of trial but deliver us from all evil. We ask this of Thee, who with the Son and the Holy Spirit, live and reign for ever and ever. Amen.
