We are a small group of avid readers who are happy to read a range of books – please come and join us even if you do not get the time to read all the books we choose. We are happy to receive recommendations, so if you have read a particularly good book, please do get in touch.

Our first recommendation is The Book of Longings by Sue Monk Kidd – This is the story of Ana, the daughter of Matthias, who lived in first century Galilee and has been allowed to learn to write, in a time when very few women were taught this skill.

Our second recommendation is Poor by Katriona O’Sullivan – Through this memoir the author speaks about her hardship growing up as a child of parents who were drug addicts, and how often it was school and kind teachers that taught her that she deserved more than what she had.

Finally, Theo of Golden by Allen Levi, is a heartwarming story about the power of kindness when a mysterious older man moves to the small Georgia town of Golden for one year.
