There will be a mini Christmas Fair in aid of The Wellspring, Stockport in the Parish Centre next Sunday. You will be able to buy Christmas gifts, decorations, books, handmade crafts, cakes.

Please come and support the event!

The annual parish Posada at St Peter's Church begins on Sunday 27th November.

Our Parish Posada is becoming one of our Advent traditions at St Peter's Church. It is a lovely way to celebrate the Advent season, and get to know other people in our community.

If you would like to take part, please just sign up! Everyone is welcome and encouraged to join in - the more the merrier! Why not invite lots of friends and family to your house when it is your turn? It is a great reason to have a festive gathering.

This year's rota is available here but please get in touch with Maria Oates, Rachel Mckay or Teresa Thiele for more information.

This year we are pleased to support the work of Retrak as our Advent Project.

Retrak reaches out to the children who have been forgotten by their communities, children who have no one else to turn to.
Our work and research provides a beginning-to-end approach for street children and the wider-community, that improves their lives. We support these amazing children as they reintegrate back into their families and communities…back to being children again.

Lenten Scripture –

The first and second Sundays retain the accounts of the Lord's temptations in the wilderness and the Transfiguration.

On the next three Sundays we hear Gospels about the mercy and compassion of God which is particularly fitting for the Holy Year of Mercy

On Passion Sunday (Palm Sunday) the Gospel reading for the procession and the reading of the Passion are from St Luke's gospel.

The Old Testament readings are about the history of salvation, which is one of the themes proper to the catechesis of Lent. The series of texts for each Year presents the main elements of salvation history from its beginning until the promise of the New Covenant.

Confession & Exposition –

Fridays: 5–7pm & Saturdays: 11 –11.45am

LPA Penitential Service -

Saturday 19th March at 2.30 pm at Our Lady's, Shaw Heath

A LENTEN JOURNEY 2016

There will be rehearsals on Sunday 20th March and during Holy Week (times to be confirmed).

Lenten Lunches –

Every year, on the Friday’s of Lent a soup lunch is served in the Parish Centre after the 12 noon Mass. All generous donations are sent to the missions in Peru where Fr Ned Wall, Curate 1998-83, spent several years before returning to the Diocese.
