Lenten Scripture –

The first and second Sundays retain the accounts of the Lord's temptations in the wilderness and the Transfiguration.

On the next three Sundays we hear Gospels about the mercy and compassion of God which is particularly fitting for the Holy Year of Mercy

On Passion Sunday (Palm Sunday) the Gospel reading for the procession and the reading of the Passion are from St Luke's gospel.

The Old Testament readings are about the history of salvation, which is one of the themes proper to the catechesis of Lent. The series of texts for each Year presents the main elements of salvation history from its beginning until the promise of the New Covenant.

There will be rehearsals on Sunday 20th March and during Holy Week (times to be confirmed).

Every year, on the Friday’s of Lent a soup lunch is served in the Parish Centre after the 12 noon Mass. All generous donations are sent to the missions in Peru where Fr Ned Wall, Curate 1998-83, spent several years before returning to the Diocese.
